There are no visible burn spots in the microwave and it still heats up food. However, I am nervous because I am pregnant. I know that running it on empty can ruin the magnetron, but can it also ruin the microwave to the extent that it releases radiation?

I have a very small kitchen and I’m trying to save all the space I can. I need a compact (18″W) over the range microwave to fit this only spot available for the microwave, but a small over the range microwave oven doesn’t seem to be available. Is it ok to have a regular microwave (no ventilation) over an electrical stove? Is it really dangerous? What are the risks? What could happen? Thanks!

My 18 year old future nasa employee decided that her socks were not warm enough so she threw them in the microwave. The socks had metal on them and needless to say caught on fire. The fire shot out the back and bottom of the microwave. My 16 year old decided to put something in the microwave about half an hour later for like 30 seconds or so. His stuff heated up but I am worried that I might have a radiation leak from the bonfire. Additionally the smell is awful. I would prefer to buy a new microwave but this was an expensive microwave and an equal replacement would not be cheap. Any suggestions on if it is safe?
